Although Kennedy and Carl's wedding was several months ago, their beautiful day is still fresh in my mind. From the time Kennedy was a little girl, she had always dreamed of having her wedding on her family's farm in Hillsborough, NC. Because Kennedy & Carl were living out of state and both in medical school, they had the help of her mother and Jennifer Ball of Knot Your Average Events plan their wedding. Everything came together flawlessly. From the gorgeous floral design to the different designs for each table within the reception area, everything looked amazing! One of the other aspects I loved about their wedding, was the old rustic door which Kennedy and her father walked through at the beginning of the ceremony & Kennedy and Carl exited through during the recessional. This same door will be used as their front door in their home which they plan to build on the farm, once they both finish their residencies and can put their roots down in North Carolina.
Kennedy looked absolutely stunning in her strapless wedding gown, which had accents of lace on the bodice, a beaded sash, and a gently flowing chiffon skirt. She wore flowers in her hair in lieu of a veil. The bridesmaids wore a gorgeous shade of royal blue which complimented Carl & his groomsmen's navy & grey three piece suits. And the colorful bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces really made everything so bright and cheerful. Kennedy's dear friend and maid-of honor, Katie, created all of the chalkboard and hand-painted signs giving everything a rustic look. One of the design elements which I thought was really unique was the use of old painted shutters for the place cards. And the antique sideboard was another, used for gifts, cards, and a place to stash the flip-flops for use by the guests on the dance floor. Family was very important to both Kennedy & Carl. Kennedy's two brothers were also groomsmen, which I thought was very special. The sweetest moment was when Carl danced with his mother, who is confined to a wheelchair. Not a dry eye in the house {tent}!
After these two were introduced as husband and wife for the second time at their reception, the father-of-the-bride welcomed the guests and then Rev. Graeber did the blessing of the food. A scrumptious meal was served buffet style. The caterers outdid themselves - the presentation was a feast for the eyes and the food was fabulous! The first dances followed and then the dance floor opened up for everyone. The celebrating went well into the evening and a good time was had by all. Their band, The Radio Narks, certainly knew how to get guests of all ages out on the dance floor! After the dance of the years, also known as the anniversary dance, the newlyweds cut their chocolate cake and the toasts were made. Kennedy & Carl decided on one tradition they didn't want to leave out - the bouquet toss first and then the garter removal & toss. This always makes for fun photo ops! The band played one more set afterwards and then the newlyweds did their farewell dance. Kennedy and Carl had planned to do a sparkler exit but the wind had picked up due to rain and thunderstorms all around us. Either way, their send-off was quite spectacular!
Everything about Kennedy and Carl's wedding day was wonderful from beginning to end. Beautiful weather, a gorgeous location, great families and friends, and a fun-loving couple. After meeting Kennedy & Carl the summer before their wedding, I knew they would be an absolute joy to work with and that they were! I'm hopeful our paths will cross again someday.
