Although Mike and Shari were already engaged when they scheduled their session with me (and booked me for their upcoming wedding!), little did Shari know what Mike had planned for that morning! Mike called me a few weeks before their session telling me he was going to surprise Shari by formally proposing to her and giving her a gorgeous sapphire and diamond engagement ring during their session.
We met at a beautiful location at sunrise on Falls Lakes back in September, which was significant to them as they shared their first kiss at the same location early on when they first started dating. Shari clearly had no idea Mike had the ring with him and we started off their session like we normally would. He did cue me in as to when he was going to ask her, so I was aware & prepared! And when that time came, Mike got down on one knee and read a sweet poem from Maya Angelou's book And Still I Rise to Shari. You could see the excitement in her eyes! After Mike finished reading the poem, he presented her with the ring, asked her to marry him, and of course she said yes!
These two deserve so much happiness and hearing their story tells me that they are truly meant for each other. I'm so excited for them and I can't wait for their wedding at The Burke Manor Inn on December 20th. It's our last wedding of the year and what a fabulous way to close out the 2019 wedding season. I'm really looking forward to seeing Mike and Shari again soon!
