The fall before Sara and Bryce's wedding, I was able to meet them at DelFosse Vineyard & Winery in Virginia for their engagement session. We spent an afternoon getting to know one another, talking about how they met, their plans for the wedding, and what they enjoy doing together. They were real troopers as we spent quite a bit of time outside and I remember it being a chilly day. It was nice to come in to the tasting room afterwards and warm up by the fire!
Sara and Bryce chose to have their wedding the following September closer to their home in Washington, DC. Their venue, The Josephine Butler Parks Center is located in the heart of the city overlooking the Meridian Hill Park and is a 1927 Renaissance Revival style mansion on three levels. It was gorgeous! We started off at the hotel where Sara and her gals were getting hair and makeup done. Bryce and his two groomsmen were in another room at the hotel and my partner and assistant, Terry took a few candids of the guys getting things together too.
Then we made our way across town to the venue where Sara put on her dress. She and her dad did a first look at the top of the stairs to the bridal suite and it was one of the most heartfelt ones to date. There were lots of happy tears! Sara and Bryce also chose to do a first look outside at the front of the mansion and that was super sweet too. Having all of the first looks out of the way, we were able to do all of the family and bridal party photos beforehand. I must give a shout out to their wedding planner Tiffany Rivera and her team at Simply Breathe Events. They were awesome and kept everything on schedule!
The intimate ceremony was close family and friends in attendance, with many more joining in to celebrate the reception with them afterwards. It was fun to see one of my former brides again at this wedding, and her grown daughter who was one of the bridesmaids. Everyone certainly had a wonderful time at this wedding. The food was amazing, the venue gorgeous, great DJ, and the photobooth was a big hit, as they almost always are. Best of all, Sara and Bryce were such a joy to work with. They honeymooned in Hawaii and had an amazing time - well deserved!
