Jim and Teresa celebrated their sweet spring wedding back in May. It was a particularly rainy spring and it was no exception for their wedding day! However, Jim and Teresa didn't let a wet day dampen their spirits. They were just thrilled to be getting married to one another! Their church wedding in Danville was followed by a casual reception at their new home, which they recently purchased together last year. It was only fitting to have their reception there as well, as its also where they became engaged on their porch swing last fall.
Teresa's daughter was her maid-of-honor and she also created her mother's bridal bouquet. Jim's son was his best man and his grandson served as the ring bearer. I love how they included their grown children and his grandson in the ceremony, all becoming one family. One of the things that they all did together during their ceremony was to blend paint on a canvas, which I thought was such a unique touch with it being a blended family. Jim and Teresa also tied a unity knot together, another sweet and meaningful touch.
After the ceremony, Jim and Teresa wanted to get a few outdoor photos of just the two of them together at the church between rain showers. And then when we arrived at their home the rain had finally let up, at least giving us enough time to get a few family photos of them all together before joining their guests for a down-home BBQ reception. After dinner everyone toasted the newlyweds and then they cut their cake. I had a feeling Jim wasn't going to play nice - but Teresa got him back with a big piece of cake!
Jim and Teresa spent a week of camping in the Shenandoah National Park at Big Meadows on their honeymoon. It's such a gorgeous place on a mountaintop and one of my most favorite places on Earth - I spent a lot of time there when I lived in Charlottesville hiking and photographing the wildlife. These two were so delightful to work with - we have since traded a few camping ideas with one another :) Its always special when you have a connection with your clients like that!
