Back in early February, I returned for the 6th year in a row to photograph the annual Kernersville Father-Daughter Dance. This popular event typically sells out within 24 hours of when the tickets go on sale. If you are reading this now and you think you'd like to attend next year, put a reminder in your calendar in early January! The Kernersville Parks and Recreation are the hosts and tickets are purchased through them.
The theme this year was "Under the Sea" and I think it may have been my favorite in all the years I've been coming to this. It was great to see many of the same dads and their daughters again, whom I see year after year, and some new faces too. There was a dad who showed up in a shark suit, at least a few pirates, and the little girls (and not so little!) all looked amazing in their pretty party dresses. Some had their faces painted by the gals at Undo's Studio, who were there on location. I feel like many more came to my "on location studio" this time around and I got so many compliments of the set-up which also had an "under the sea" theme going for it. It was a fun evening and I always look forward to it each year.
Lastly, many thanks Terry Killebrew my life partner and Tamarah Ellen, my dear friend for being such fantastic and hard-working photographer's assistants! Volume photography is fast-paced and with over 200 coming to my camera that evening within 3 hours, I truly couldn't of done it without them. Also a shout out to my friend and colleague Mark Bell, with School Bell Studio, for letting me borrow such great props and the blue tie-dyed background, which mimicked the sea perfectly.
And of course a special mention and thanks to all for making this a success year after year (listed below). Dan with On Target DJ is always great to work with & I enjoyed meeting Micah with Micah Brown Media, who was there to capture video (I appear briefly in the video as I'm working!). It was a fun evening and I always look forward to it every winter!
