James and Candise were so much fun to work with last summer, for their intimate wedding. It was great to learn they are also neighbors of mine, as is the location where they chose to get married, Grove Winery & Vineyards!
With just close family and friends in attendance, they had their beautiful ceremony on the dock overlooking "Lake Cabernet" that evening. James' two grown sons were his best men and Candise's sister was her matron of honor. Her dad walked her down the aisle, so it was all very family oriented. James and Candise chose not to do a first look before the ceremony, so to see his face when he saw her for the first time was really special. He may have shed a tear or two!
After exchanging their vows and rings, James and Candise chose to do a wine ceremony. Candise chose a red wine and James, a white. They each took a sip of their wine before pouring them together into an empty carafe. The wines were then blended together, symbolizing two lives becoming one. Each of them then poured the blended wine back into a glass to share. As they each drank, a toast was given by the celebrant.
After the ceremony, their reception was held under the covered "Petit Manseng Pavilion". The newlyweds were introduced and went into their first dance as husband and wife. Candise then had her father-daughter dance. A buffet dinner was served and of course a choice of Grove wines! After dinner, James and Candise cut their cake and fed it to one another. One of James' sons got a taste too! Cupcakes were also served in several different flavors. Love is sweet!

This was my first time photographing a wedding at Grove Winery & Vineyards, but I'm no stranger to this location! Former and original owner, Max Lloyd, was a long time client and is still a good friend of mine. At one point I had one of my Tuscany, Italy photographs on the label of the Jug House Blush Wine. My photos from my trip to Italy, which was in 2009, still hang in their tasting room!
I'm excited that new owners, Bryan & Sophia Dodd, have decided to host private events and weddings at Grove Winery & Vineyards. They've added so many new things including the dock and pavilion since taking ownership. I believe they'll be adding a place for getting ready onsite soon and likely other added features. Hoping for the best for them and I'm really hoping I get to photograph more events and weddings there!
On that note, please come out to the Grove Winery & Vineyards wedding show and venue open house on Sunday, April 7th, for a tour, tasting, meet the staff, and many other wedding and event professionals, including myself. More info can be found on my event's page HERE or reach out to the folks at Grove Winery HERE for details. Hope to see you there!
