On the evening of June 23rd, I taught another super fun photography workshop. "Learning Your Smartphone Camera", also at Paul J Ciener Botanical Garden. It's always a popular workshop, with most folks owning a smartphone these days, and I always really enjoy teaching this one too!
Some of the things we covered were several different camera apps & editing apps and all of the many camera features the students already have on their phones. Although those with Androids or Pixels could take this class, everyone in this particular class had anywhere from an iPhone 6 on up to an iPhone 13 Pro. It was also interesting to see how much the iPhone cameras have advanced over the years. Either way, you can still make beautiful photographs no matter the make & model of your smartphone. To name a few, I offered tips on shooting in better light, changing perspective, rules of third, and leading lines, which are some of the basics in all photography.
With the gorgeous "golden hour" light, cooler temps, and the garden as our backdrop, we had the perfect evening for our workshop. There are so many nooks and crannies in the garden at Ciener waiting to be discovered. A few told me they'd never visited the garden before & now its a new favorite place for them. We sure had a blast & I'm so glad everyone was up for a class photo, which was in the tropical garden (scroll down to bottom for that!).
Wouldn't you agree with me how talented and creative this group is? A big thanks goes out to Carol, Marty, Nancy, Martha, Shelly, Lynda, & Lisa for joining me in class. I'm so thrilled all seven of my students participated by sharing their "homework" with me. Now to share here on the blog with everyone else! Hopefully those seeing this post will sign up for a future smartphone photography workshop with me. You too CAN take photographs such as these, with your smartphone camera. Come join me sometime!
On that note, if you missed this workshop and would like to take it in the future with me, I'm planning to teach it again during Ciener's annual "Spectacular Tulip Bloom" which will be in April 2023 (I'll likely teach it either on a Thursday evening or Saturday morning - TBD). There's a possibility I'll teach it a second time as well, later in the summer 2023. More information on my current & future workshops, can be found HERE. To be added to my email list, as to not miss out on anything, please reach out HERE!
