Kevin and Alaina are planning a intimate destination wedding in Las Vegas later this month, so it's only fitting to post their engagement session at Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden here on the blog today! We met up back in October for their session on what turned out to be a gorgeous mild fall day. Kevin and Alaina were up for an adventure - we had a blast! There are so many wonderful photo ops throughout the gardens. It's one of my favorite places to shoot, whether it be a session, wedding, or teaching a photography workshop there. I'm so glad Alaina wore a red dress and check out Kevin's red shoes! Red always shows up great in photography, especially with such a lush green backdrop in the garden.
As a side note, Alaina is dear friends with my niece, Kathryn. They met through mutual friends at the University of South Florida while they were undergraduate biology students. So I felt like I knew her, even though this was the first time I met her. Thank you Kathryn, for such a great referral. Alaina & Kevin moved up to Carrboro, NC from Tampa, FL not too long ago for work and graduate school and since got engaged.
Originally they thought about having a larger wedding closer to home, however they decided their destination wedding was more for them & are inviting just close friends. Kathryn will be there for the occasion and I'm hopeful she takes her camera with her, as she has quite the eye for photography. Both of my nieces do, although they both picked different careers than I did! On the other hand, I totally get it if Kathryn prefers to put her camera down, be in the moment, and thoroughly enjoys herself having fun at their wedding. Whenever Terry & I get an invitation to be guests at a wedding, I even put the iPhone away!
Congratulations to the soon to be Mr. & Mrs. Culver & thanks for such an increbily fun time back in October!
