To say that 2021 was a busy one, would be an understatement! The year started off slowly with just one wedding in April and one in May. My first of the year was on 4.3.21 and it just so happened to be my dear friends, Joe and Dianne's wedding. Back in February of 2020, just as the pandemic was starting to rear it's ugly head, these two lovebirds were over in Singapore on vacation & visiting family stationed in the military.
And while they were there, I was caring for their home, farm, and eight fur-babies. Joe proposed to Dianne while they were in Singapore and she said yes! Dianne emailed me and told me that A) To please save their wedding date & would I be their photographer! and B) If they got stuck in Singapore, please look after their babies until they could get back and also where to purchase horse feed! They are such wonderful friends and they would do anything for us too (and have - with petsitting last minute and for mowing the lawn when my zero turn was down & out last summer!).
Their wedding was so special and intimate with very close friends and family for their ceremony on the farm and in their garden reception at their house. Joe is a Master Gardener and their yard looked gorgeous for their spring wedding. And the best part is that Dianne decided to get on her gorgeous Shire, Jandy, a retired carriage horse in her wedding dress right after their ceremony. It turned out to be bittersweet, as they lost their sweet girl earlier this fall unexpectedly. I'm so heartbroken for them.
As summer moved into June, things started to pick up a bit with three weddings that month. We had just one in July and one in August. But then September arrived and it was non-stop with several double wedding weekends and at least one triple wedding weekend. I had twelve weddings between Labor Day weekend and the first weekend in November with a total of nineteen for the year. Phew!
On that note, I'm not sure I'll ever shoot a triple wedding weekend again - I'm getting too old for that! Even doubles are a bit crazy and I already have one of those weekends in the coming year. And fall of 2022 is almost completely booked already, so if you are looking to book (especially in the fall) and are serious about it, I strongly urge you to do it now. You may also consider a weekday - Mondays through Thursdays as you may have a better chance at working with ALL of your favorite wedding professionals. I do still have some spring dates and plenty of summer dates available, however so please reach out to me!
Until then, congratulations to all of these couples - it has been a crazy, but wonderful ride this year!
