An Autumn Wedding at Mountain View Farm

How could it be that we are already coming up on Curtis and Becca's one year anniversary? They had such a lovely fall wedding on October, 5th 2019 and it has taken me all of this time to finally feature their special day here on the blog. These two were a dream to work with as were their families, friends, and a wonderful team of vendors.

The venue where Curtis and Becca were married, was on a beautiful horse farm with incredible views of the lake amongst the rolling hills and pastures. The weather was mild with a little sunshine peeking through the clouds throughout the day. Luckily there was no rain, as they chose to have an outdoor ceremony. Anna, my second photographer, and I arrived a couple hours before the ceremony so we could capture some of the fun getting ready photos.

Anna joined Curtis and his groomsmen at the Gulf Station on the property, which is just far enough away from where Becca and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the bridal suite. Becca actually chose to put her gown on outdoors in the woods, with the help of Jennifer Ball of Knot Your Average Events. I loved this unique idea - I have to say Becca has been the only bride whom I've ever worked with who wanted to do this! Becca is quite adventurous, as I had learned from when we did their engagement session a few months before. So it was not a surprise she did this and it sure made for some fantastic photos!

Becca looked absolutely stunning in her wedding gown and her makeup was on point! I loved how the back go her gown had buttons going all the way down and the top part of the bodice was all lace in the back. Her honor attendants wore deep purple gowns and her bridesmaids wore pale grey gowns. One of her junior bridesmaids was in a dark red gown & the other in a pale grey gown. I loved that each of the women got to wear a different style and different shades of grey, purples, and red. Their bouquets were gorgeous too and looked amazing with their dresses! Becca had an added touch to her bouquet - a Princess Leia action figure hiding amongst her flowers!

Curtis and his men all wore grey dress pants and vests with white dress shirts, and Converse sneakers. Curtis wore a dark red tie and red sneakers to stand out and his groomsmen all wore deep purple ties and black sneakers. Their boutonnières also had Star Wars action figures incorporated into them as well. Such fun! The Gulf Station where they got ready had some great places for photo ops too. I loved how Anna utilized the vintage 1956 blue Chevy pickup truck as a backdrop for a few shots.

Although Curtis and Becca did not do a first look, she did do one with her dad and it was super sweet. I always love to witness the dad's reactions of seeing their "little girls" all dressed up for the first time. Curtis and Becca did do a first touch however, and that certainly was sweet and heartfelt too. They had some good laughs together, which certainly eased their jitters before walking down the aisle.

The ceremony site they chose overlooked the pine and hardwoods forest, which gave it such a magical feel to it. The beautiful natural wooden cross was decorated with a greenery & floral garland. No detail was left untouched! After Curtis and Becca said their vows, the reception was held immediately following inside the barn. Brian, the DJ, announced the bridal party and the reception was underway. After a prayer from their officiant, a fabulous meal was served buffet style. And then after dinner, the toasts were made by Becca's two honor attendants. Curtis and Becca then did their first dance together, which was quite special.

The dance floor then opened up for everyone else - Brian sure does know how to keep a party going! Everyone was having such a fun time! Becca and her dad also did a special dance towards the end of the evening, as did Curtis and his mother. Instead of a wedding cake, Becca and Curtis chose to have a dessert table and they fed one another a chocolate cannoli, then did their toasts together with some sparkling cider, and thanked their guests for joining them on their special day.

Before the evening was over we made sure to do a group shot of Becca with Jennifer Ball and her team at Knot Your Average Events. Becca had been one of Jenn's students and interns at UNCG a few years back. And because of her undergraduate work at UNCG and her experience at with Jenn, she is now pursuing a career in event planning. Becca is currently in graduate school in Florida, where she and Curtis recently relocated to. She is also working at Disney, which is right up her alley!

Lastly before saying our goodbyes to Curtis and Becca that evening, Anna & I joined just the two of them out on the patio where there's a fire pit for a few more photo ops. These two were just so much fun to work with and get to know. I was almost sad when their big day was over, but at the same time so happy for them! I've enjoyed keeping in touch with them since their wedding. Hopefully when I can get down to central Florida to see my family again, I can plan a visit with Curtis and Becca again, and their sweet dog Rae too! I'd love to see them again!
